Okanagan Staffing Services is seeking a part-time In-House Bookkeeper for approximately four hours per month starting in June 2021 (there may be an opportunity to spend time with the current Bookkeeper before she leaves in May 2021).
Job Description: Utilizing Sage 50 to assist with:
Reconciling bank statements
Balancing monthly books
Posting cheques (from cheque stubs)
Inputting journal entries for such items as interest or credit card processing fees
Entering the President’s, Visa transactions from online statement
Handling GST remittances (quarterly)
Year-end (balancing previous year and opening new year’s account)
Completing Bookkeeper’s Excel spreadsheet
Ensuring all is ready for the owners to bring to the accountant
Communicating any balancing issues to HR Manager who will assist with entering any missing deposits or locating any missing information
Other duties, as assigned in order to carry out the bookkeeping properly
Notifying the owners or HR Manager of any issues or past errors you may find with respect to the monthly books
Communicating all relevant information to enable us to continue to run an open consistent and transparent office
Maintaining a clean and organized work environment

The new hire will be expected to comply with and adhere to the laws and regulations that govern the professional activities and ethical behaviour of accounting professionals, including the CPABC Code of Professional Conduct. As such, it is expected that he/she will remain free of conflict of interests and not engage in any illegal nor unethical conduct. As well, he/she must be willing to sign a one-year contract and be prepared to follow all necessary legislations pertaining to the Employment Standards Act.
