Sunocean Wineries and Estates Inc., operating as Church & State Wines, features two unique vineyard properties located in the Okanagan and on Vancouver Island.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a full-time Wine Shop Manager to lead our Oliver Tasting Room, overseeing all aspects of on-site sales, wine clubs, events, business administration, staffing, and licensing compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate the tasting room and create exceptional, memorable experiences for guests.
Hire, train, and lead tasting room staff; provide ongoing support and motivation to ensure the highest standards of hospitality and professionalism.
Develop initiatives, set sales targets, and forecast performance for the tasting room and wine club to drive growth in sales and memberships.
Manage staff schedules, timesheets, and bi-weekly tip reconciliation according to payroll schedule.
Create wine club packages, update newsletters and media pages, and maintain online platforms.
Operate POS systems, educate customers, and monitor communications to ensure excellent customer experiences while meeting sales targets.
Package and ship orders, including quarterly wine club packages.
Monitor inventory, report deficiencies, and request transfers to maintain appropriate stock levels.
Build and maintain industry relationships within the South Okanagan market.
Develop and execute wine guest experiences, host trade and media visits, and maintain company social media accounts.
Collaborate with other departments to contribute to overall company value.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum 3 years progressive experience in wine sales and marketing, including DTC sales or wine club management.
WSET Level 2 or higher preferred.
Availability to work peak times, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and some holidays.
Proficiency with POS and booking systems (Commerce7, Stripe, Klaviyo).
Strong multitasking abilities; able to complete duties and projects despite interruptions.
Exceptional communication skills and a proven track record in achieving sales results.
Passion for leading a team to meet and exceed company goals.
Excellent organizational skills; able to set goals, manage projects, and execute initiatives.
Legally authorized to work in Canada.
What We Offer:
Competitive salary within the range of CA$60,000–CA$80,000 annually (based on candidate experience)
