Progressive Jazz
Factory original Gold Sparkle wrap finish.
The drums are all 3ply except the 14 floortom, which is 6ply. The set came new from the factory with these mixed plies. I bought the drums from the daughter of the original owner. He bought them new in 1960.
Good condition
No extra holes
Edges redone by professional drum builder. They were handsanded and kept to original intentions.
I repainted the Silver Sealer when I bought them in 2009. This year I removed most of the Silver Sealer.
Some hardware parts were missing and I replaced them with era-correct parts.
Modern heads fit tight on the toms... as was common with some wrapped Gretsch drums of the day. Drum builder Ray Ayotte cut the tom wrap back allowing a much better head-fit for easier tuning. The wrap is now the same as you get when you order new Gretsch wrapped drums.
These 65 year old... aged... shells are in excellent condition.
Late 50s Round Badged drums don't come on the market often.
The drums are located in West Kelowna B.C. Canada 🇨🇦
