Community Support Worker – Housing
South Okanagan Similkameen Brain Injury Society Penticton, BC
Full-Time Position (5 days per week)
We are seeking an energetic individual to join our housing team which is focused on finding and maintaining safe and affordable housing for individuals with a serious and persistent mental illness.
Duties include: housing search and advocacy; arranging security deposits, the connection of utilities, and the moving of belongings; and providing one-on-one supports.
Qualifications: Post -secondary education with a Mental Health Worker Certificate or Community Support Worker or Human Service Worker Diploma. A working knowledge of the BC Residential Tenancy Act would be a definite asset. One year previous experience working with people living with mental illness.
Other Requirements: Reliable personal transportation, a good driving record and a class 5 driver’s license, as driving is a requirement; first aid certificate; criminal record check; computer literacy; excellent written and spoken English; good interpersonal skills, and in a physical condition capable of assisting in the moving of belongings up flights of stairs.
